CEDED

The Centre for Democracy and Development (CEDED) has its roots in civic education and access to information. CEDED started from being solely a Community Resource Centre in June 12th, 1998 under New Sudan Education Agency (NSEA) in response to the expressed need for information on democracy and good governance by the citizens in the then New Sudan. The Centre became independent in 2008 known as the Yei Community Resource Centre with limited coverage to only Central Equatoria State.

In August 16th, 2012, the new name CEDED was adopted and the organization progressively developed into a National non-governmental and non-profit making civil society organization.

CEDED, responds to inadequate access to credible information; capacity gaps of local duty bearers, youth, women and chiefs; extreme poverty among the youth and women; aftermath of violent conflicts such as hate, distrust, ethnic divisions and human rights violations and abuses; citizen’s limited participation in local decisions making processes and inadequate spaces for voicing issues of community concern . We make a difference at grass root level. Lead by example and work in partnerships
